Brief

In Oslo the winter sun barely clears the roofs. The architects needed to know whether their glass roof would bring light to the lowest landing in January.

Approach

We rendered the stair every hour from 9 to 15 on the shortest day, with measured glass and real concrete values, then laid the results out like a contact sheet.

Delivered

Twenty four light studies, three hero images for the museum's fundraising and a short report the engineers used to size the skylight.

“We changed the skylight after the second study. The stair is brighter because of it.”
